By the late 1990s, urban development along the Yonge Street corridor had virtually severed the Moraine except a narrow area near Bond Lake. When that too was planned for development, one thousand citizens packed a Town council meeting in 2000 to object. This triggered the Province to acquire 1060 acres from the developers to create a park and to legislate a Conservation Act and Plan for the entire Oak Ridges Moraine. Investigate this Conservation Act further. If you cannot find what you are looking for, try another path.
